Trinity Lutheran Church Preschool operates on basically the same schedule as the elementary schools in the Ithaca City School District, with hours from 9:00am to 12:00noon. There are three options available for attendance: Tuesday and Thursday; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and five days a week.
Curriculum
The curriculum is taught through Bible stories and thematic units. Each day includes the following general schedule: free play, clean up, opening, motion/music, snack, book time, show and tell, arts and crafts, and indoor/outdoor gross motor play. We also include special items in the schedule, such as Chapel, cooking, science, language arts, music, and math. A number of off-site field trips are also a part of your child's school year.
Parent Conferences
Parent/teacher conferences are held one time yearly to discuss the progress and development of your child. A written report will also be completed once yearly, generally in the spring. Parents are encouraged to meet with the teacher at any time if the need arises. Additionally, one hour a month will be set aside for parents to have a private conference with the head teacher, if needed. The preschool has an open door policy regarding parent classroom visitation and parent involvement is encouraged.
Enrollment Requirements
Children enrolling in the preschool must be toilet trained and must be three years of age by the first of December for the 3's class, or four by December 1st for the 4's class. Children are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. A waiting list will be compiled when the teacher/student ratios have been filled.
Parents must provide a copy of the child's immunization records and evidence that their child has received a health exam within 90 days prior to admission.
